Failure or Prototype?


I had made an animation engine to interface with unity's to handle all of the animations. This worked great, and allowed interchangeable character body parts (like different hair, eyes, ect.) The approach was severely flawed because it relied on UnityEngine.Animators, which is not available in builds. The great new is, I found that before moving on. The bad news, I have to redo all of that.

The approach is now changing. I am going to process the files and programmatically create all of the animations and populate their own controller/organize it.  This will keep the deadline straight and solve bigger issues for other games I am working on. Given everything going on in my life, it is impossibly hard to keep this going. But this is my tribute to how I will not give up, even when times are hard, and everyone leaves you alone. I will rise up from the ashes and this game is going to see it through.

Sometimes there is stuff you have to just roll up your sleeves and get things done, regardless of who is or is not there to help you.  This is one of those moments. I have learned a lot about myself an who is actually there for me. I refuse to undervalue myself anymore, and this game is going to be great.
