Want to Contribute to an Awesome Typing Trainer?

We are in a prefunding stage and could really use any help we can get. Any support that goes into this game will help build accessible typing practice for the world in a more "gamified" manner. We have some stretch goals in mind for the project. Here's a (very) rough view of features we plan on adding for any financial support. We would be forever grateful for any help in providing us the ability to spread the love for typing we hold in our hearts :') Stay tuned for the amount needed for each, and any accumulation of funds between now and then will be included :)

We revamped the project over the past couple of days in light of game-jam style fun!
We have a ton of plans for this game, and a lot of them are mid-stream :)   Here are our stretch goals we can see. Want to see more? We love feedback and encourage you to help us make typocalypse the typing trainer to rule them all :D

=======Gameplay========

Weapons

We have several weapons ready for implementation. The design of the game will alter gameplay based on the weapon you have unlocked and have equipped. This will give a sense of progression and keep the game more engaging for longer periods


Enemies

We have several enemies with their own specific mechanics in mind. We plan on implementing them to alter the gameplay to add more diversity in challenge and further enhance replayability. The mechanics in mind will alter their speed, damage, and words that appear specific to each enemy archetype. 

More Clear Word Display

The challenge with this game is definitely keeping it readable, but also feeling like there is a horde of zombies coming at you. We recognize that when it gets intense, you are overwhelmed and it is hard to read words. We will address this through various approaches and know there is a way to handle all of the elements for a highly positive viewing experience.

Multiplayer Elements

Typing is always more fun with a friend! With some stability, we plan to implement a competitive leaderboard and a couple of multiplayer game modes. Among these modes, we will include a cooperative mode, where you have a teammate to fight the horde alongside. We also plan on creating a vs. mode, where you can put your typing skills to the test, weighting on the WPM feature (listed in the Typing section). This pits every player at the same difficulty no matter the typing level. By gradually dragging each player further out of their comfort wpm, only the scrappiest can survive the apocalypse to run supreme in the new found society. We also see space for a raid mode/events, where you contribute to a collaborative goal to irradicate the zombies once and for all!

Maps

We recognize the single map won't meet a demand. We will add various maps and play with screen spacing to create something truly engaging and something the typing genre has yet to see! :D

Gameplay

We also recognize the play space is small, and plan on implementing a traveling mode, where we can go from objective-to-objective. This will allow the game to build more on progression, objectives, story/narrative and create the gaming experience accustomed to games outside the genre :)

=======Typing========

More Thorough Practice

We only take into account for lowercase letters and a handful of symbols, currently. We plan on supporting capitalization and more symbols, after the visuals of the words is cleared in our goals. We don't stop at more diverse practice. We will have custom profiles to select from, like different programming languages, VIM and localization. This will allow you to practice the typing that you actually need, tailored to your needs :)

Dynamic Difficulty

We plan on implementing dynamic difficulty using the balancing system in the game right now. This will let us create optimal play sessions for a tailored experience to enhance your typing skills. We have the system planned in our documents, and just need to move onto things that have some potential for providing us stability in these scary times of the games industry and AI.

WPM Mechanics

We know how a lot of opportunities look at wpm and value measuring your progress to make sure what you're doing is working. By adding this mechanic, we will have targeted training to a desired wpm by playing games :D It will also serve as our basis for matchmaking, should the game take us there. 

Word pools

We feel we can take more attention to detail in the word pools available. We would like to see either more curated and larger pool of words. Should we be able to sustain it, I have a lot of web service programming experience to allow AI to help us adapt words better to your needs and keep on theme!

AI Training Buddy

Should the previous take shape to AI integration, we see a dashboard and platform to analyze your progress and help identifying/proving targeted practice leveraging AI. This will give the ultimate typing experience that is tailored specifically to your needs, here and now.
